Area Police Departments Release Arrest Info From DUI Check Point In Las Vegas

Southern Nevada police departments release arrest info on St. Patrick’s Day Las Vegas DUI checkpoint. In an effort to reduce drunk driving accidents and deaths due to driving whle intoxicated in Southern Nevada accidents, area police departments teamed up on St. Patrick’s Day to set up roadblocks and increase patrols. The Las Vegas police departments that cooperated included Las Vegas police department, North Las Vegas police department, Clark County school district police, Nevada Highway police and more. Funding for the Las Vegas DUI roadblock was provided by a state “Joining Forces” grant which provides funding to Nevada municipalities to work together to make the state’s roads safer and reduce traffic accidents and fatalities in Las Vegas and other municipalities. The grant funded overtime, salaries, equipment and consumables used in the Southern Nevada DUI checkpoint.

As a result of the DUI checkpoint at Paradise Rd and Tropicana Ave, 30 drivers were arrested for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol in Clark County. Over 2000 people went through the DUI checkpoint and and nearly 100 people were tested to see if they were impaired while operating a vehicle. The 8-hour law enforcement effort required 27 police officers to man the roadblock.

The reason Southern Nevada municipalities have been working so diligently to reduce intoxicated driving in Clark County has been the high amount of automobile and pedestrian accidents across the Southern part of the Silver State. So far in 2015, 12 pedestrians have died in Las Vegas accidents.
