A 40-year old Las Vegas resident was booked by Las Vegas Metro police for hit-and-run and driving while intoxicated in Clark County for striking and killing a man riding a bike Friday evening. The name of the person killed on the bicycle has not been released to press and will be when relatives receive notification. The driver, Abraham Lebron, was behind the wheel of a Hyundai Accent from 2008. The man riding the bicycle was rushed by ambulance to University Hospital, but was declared dead. The bicyclist was the 50th person who was killed in an automobile accident in Las Vegas so far in 2015. Internet comments have illustrated that the man killed on the bicycle was beloved by those who knew him. The man on the bicycle was 33 years old. The accident happened on Sahara Ave at around 11:30 p.m.
This weekend also saw an accident where an impaired driver of a pickup truck killed the driver of a motorcycle around 4:00 a.m. Saturday morning. The pickup truck was on Interstate 215 headed west near Aliante Pkwy when it veered out of control, crossed into oncoming traffic and slammed into the motorbike. The pickup and the motorcycle exploded into flames after the crash. There were two people who were in the pickup truck, a man and a woman. They suffered minor injuries and the pickup driver was tested for Las Vegas DUI.
The previous Saturday, June 20th, three were hurt when a 17-year old behind the wheel of a Honda Accord from 1993 was travelling north on Pecos Blvd. near Stewart Ave. The teen driver lost control of the Accord and was travelling north in the southern headed lanes, spun and smashed into a Mazda CX-7 that 68-year old Sharon Edmondson, a North Las Vegas resident, was driving. The two cars rammed into a Ford Taurus from 2008. 51-year old Doel Rojas was behind the wheel of the Taurus and is also from North Las Vegas. After the accident happened the teen ran from the scene but was arrested. Ms. Edmondson had serious injuries from the crash and Mr. Rojas was moderately hurt. The teen was booked for Southern Nevada DWI and fleeing the scene of an accident.
