To Battle Las Vegas Speeding and Red Light Running, Las Vegas Stop Lights Getting Reflective Update

By | 2015-11-26T18:51:07-07:00 November 26th, 2015|Categories: Local News, Running a Red Light, Speeding, Technology and the LAW|Tags: , , |

Running a red light happens to everyone. You’re running late and think no one will notice. You make only a rolling stop at a right on red. Other times drivers just miss the light - it can be due to driving too fast, not paying attention or even low light conditions when it is overcast or just after sunrise or just before sunset, or even when the sun is high in the sky and the light is just so bright it is hard to see. When people are Las Vegas speeding and run a red light, the Las Vegas police do not have the luxury of ticketing them by capturing a photograph with a red light camera. In Nevada and Las Vegas red light cameras are illegal unless they are connected to a police cruiser or a police station barracks or other building owned by a police force. Across the country, 900 people die due to someone running a red light. That is close to three people every day. Many organizations are working hard to decrease red light running by lengthening the intervals between green, red and yellow lights. A new tool to help people notice traffic lights has been [...]

New Technologies May Put A Stop To Las Vegas Drunk Driving

By | 2015-07-08T10:54:38-07:00 July 8th, 2015|Categories: DUI, General Ticket Info, Road Rules, Technology and the LAW|Tags: , , , , |

Soon, your car may stop you from drunk driving in Las Vegas. New technology is being developed that will prevent automobiles from working if the driver behind the steering wheel is inebriated. This technology could have the same life saving efficacy as seat belts or airbags. The technology, intended to prevent Clark County DUI will use a number of factors to determine if the potential operator of the motor vehicle is intoxicated. One of the factors will be to test samples from the driver’s breath. The process is being designed as a seamless system which will work automatically, without bothering or alerting the person behind the wheel. Another system will check the driver’s alcohol levels when he or she touches a certain part of the car. This could be integrated into the car’s start button or the steering wheel. Again, this test will be completed imperceptibly. These new technological solutions would prevent the embarrassment of current ignition lock systems that have large breath collection systems. Anti-drunk driving advocacy group Mothers Against Drunk Driving has approved of the technology and the president of the organization has been vocal in support. The system is being touted as having the potential to prevent [...]

Texas Red Light Ticket Laws Differ From Las Vegas Red Light Ticket Citations

Texas lawmakers are considering statues for red light cameras in the Lone Star State. The bill limiting the use of red light cameras has passed the Texas senate but still needs to pass the lower house of the Texas legislature and be signed by the Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott. Many Texas cities have hired companies that then paid to install the cameras, which then right tickets to red light violators for $75 each. These tickets have generated millions of dollars for both the companies and the cities that have installed them. Texas lawmakers have cited research that shows that the red light cameras do not improve traffic safety. The alternative proposed by the legislature in Texas is that red light cameras would be confined to state and interstate roads that take tolls. Another complaint of Texas red light cameras is that they do not allow those accused of crimes to have their day in court and face those who accuse them. If you receive a red light camera ticket in Las Vegas, it is important to know that that Silver State’s laws governing the technology vary significantly from either current Texas law or rules currently proposed by Texas senators. With pedestrian deaths in Las Vegas climbing to the double digits already this year, Las Vegans are clamoring for the Las Vegas Metro Police and Southern Nevada’s Regional Transportation Commission  to increase pedestrian safety on Southern Nevada’s highways and byways. One solution may be the installation of new HAWK pedestrian management systems like the one recently installed in Henderson, Nevada. At 15th Street and Sahara Avenue, where the constant flow of traffic makes crossing the street difficult and dangerous. In addition, the crosswalks on the streets are far apart, which often induces pedestrians to jay walk to get across the street. The HAWK system is a pedestrian activated walk signal that stops traffic enabling pedestrians to cross the street safely. If you have received a Las Vegas red light running citation and would like to fight or fix your Las Vegas traffic ticket online, without court visits, log onto 24hourticketpower.com for a free legal consultation. The HAWK traffic light stands for hi intensity activated cross walk beacon. The new type of cross walk, developed in Tucson, AZ in 2000 has been shown to increase pedestrian safety by over 97%, causing drivers to stop nearly 100% more than normal cross walk [...]

In the last legislative session, the Nevada legislature passed and the governor SB140 which outlawed the sending of text messages and the use of mobile phones while driving here in the Silver State. The bill gave primacy to the state law, preventing further legislation from cities and counties. The Department of Transportation here in Nevada is tasked with an extensive list of duties. It builds, plans, operates and maintains the Silver State’s one thousand bridges and fifty four hundred miles of highways. The state is separated into three districts, each managed by a District Engineer who is responsible for traffic safety in that entire geographical area. In its function of operating Nevada’s highways and bridges, the Nevada DOT conducts awareness campaigns throughout the year. Not only does the department issue press releases about highway and off ramp closures but also works with local municipalities and counties to create traffic safety programs. Some of these programs include announcements to warn motorists of the spring migration of animals, others are to combat traffic incidents that are statistically on the rise, such as pedestrian safety. Last week, the Nevada DOT began its awareness program to warn motorists of the dangers of speeding in construction zones – in coordination with the national awareness week for work zones. If you have a Las Vegas work zone violation ticket, and wish to fight or fix it online, log onto 24hourticketpower.com today for a free legal consultation. Ever get a traffic ticket and been certain the officer was completely incorrect? Unfortunately, you were afraid to fight the system, concerned about repeated court visits, additional fines for late payments and of just earning the ire of local traffic authorities. However, you have options. If you happen to have a PhD in Physics, you could go to court with an academic research paper explaining how the officer incorrectly saw you roll through a stop sign, due to the angle the officer observed the traffic incident, the automobile’s rate of acceleration and deceleration and the number of obstructions to the officer’s view of the vehicle. Unfortunately, however, you, like the rest of us, struggled through high school geometry and algebra and have no means to determine your vehicle’s angular speed with respect to the police cruiser thirty meters away. Thus, you need more traditional means to fight or fix your Las Vegas traffic ticket. 24hourticketpower.com worked closely with local traffic authorities to ease the processing of Las Vegas traffic tickets. Our online traffic ticket processing system enables you, whether you are a lifelong Las Vegas resident or you were in Vegas as a tourist, on business or an all-expenses paid [...]

Imagine driving across country, along I-70 in Illinois and seeing police lights flashing in your rearview mirror, with a State or Municipal police cruiser signaling for you to pull over. You stop safely on the side of the road, and the officer informs you that he or she pulled over for an illegal lane change. You are asked for and hand over your license and registration, and the officer heads back to the cruiser. After a few moments, the policeman returns to the car, and says you are being let off with a warning. Then something strange occurs. As you are told you are free to go you are then asked if you would consent to a few questions. You comply and are then asked if you have any illicit drugs, large amounts of cash or weapons. You reply no to each of these questions. If you have been pulled over in a Las Vegas Interstate stop and have had significant property seized, contact 24hourticketpower.com today. Then the police officer asks you to consent for your car to be searched. Maybe he even has a police dog circle your vehicle, sniffing for drugs. Maybe you have a significant amount of [...]

Many Nevadan’s believe that automated traffic cameras in the state are illegal, but there are certain instances when these traffic regulation devices are legal here. For red light and other traffic cameras to be legal in Nevada they have to be installed on police property or on a police vehicle. However, if the camera are installed correctly, they can be used to nab traffic violators automatically, like they do in most states. However, automatic traffic cameras are not always the most efficient solution to a municipalities traffic safety issues. If you have been ticketed for Las Vegas speeding by an automated camera or even if you were pulled over by the Las Vegas Metro police, contact 24hourticketpower.com today. Red light cameras are touted as a tool by law enforcement and political leaders as a way to increase safety and prevent accidents, specifically T-bone accidents in intersections where one person has ran the red light. However, research shows that while T-bone accidents decline once a red light traffic camera has been installed, rear-end collisions increase. However, statistical validity of the studies is called into question. The US Department of Transportation has begun a farther reaching study in an attempt to derive [...]

UC Berkeley recent published a study on California’s 4-year old ban on cell phone use while driving. Since 2008, California has seen a 22% drop in auto fatalities overall. However, traffic fatalities due to a driver talking on a cell phone while driving fell 47%. To determine the efficacy of the cell phone ban, the researchers studied California traffic fatalities from the two years prior to the ban and two years after. Traffic injuries due to cell phone use were seen to have fallen a similar amount in the study. Total deaths in the Golden State plummeted from 100 to 53 and the amount of injuries fell from approximately 7800 to 3800. If you have been ticketed by Nevada's new cell phone while driving ban, log onto 24hourticketpower.com to fight or fix your ticket. While Nevada’s cell phone ban only came into law this year, it is very similar to the California ban. Both states ban talking on a cell phone without a headset while driving. They also ban texting on your phone while behind the wheel. California’s ban extends to an absolute prohibition against teen using their phones while driving, while in Nevada teens are allowed to use their [...]

Los Angeles area city, Glendora, CA recently released a breakdown of the revenue they collect from traffic fines. In an effort to show greater transparency, the Southern California city illustrated how they did not profit from traffic tickets written by their police force. In fact, Glendora’s breakdown shows how much traffic enforcement actually costs the municipality. Glendora’s police chief even went on to say that traffic enforcement is done to improve safety and ensure the roads are safe for the citizens of the municipality. If you have been cited for a Las Vegas moving violation and want to fight or fix your ticket, contact 24hourticketpower.com. While Las Vegas has not released breakdowns of their revenues and costs from the city’s traffic enforcement efforts, the municipality has worked with the web masters and Nevada licensed traffic attorneys of 24hourticketpower.com to develop a nearly completely online traffic ticket processing website. By eliminating the time consuming and repetitive paperwork associated with a Las Vegas traffic ticket, 24hourticketpower is often able to get our customers smaller and fines. Across the nation, states continue to debate the fairness and efficacy of red light traffic cameras. While Nevada and nine other states have specific provisions against the automated cameras, however, the Silver State does allow the use of the cameras if mounted to a police cruiser or other vehicle or if held and aimed by an officer. Other states, approximately 20, have no laws on the books for red light cameras. If you have been ticketed for a running a red light in Las Vegas, and want to fight or fix your ticket entirely online, contact 24hourticketpower.com today. While Nevada does not allow automated red light ticket cameras, many studies have shown how effective the systems can be in curbing many types of moving violations. In Cedar Rapids, IA, a 2011 study showed that the installation of automated red light traffic reduced the average monthly amounts of red lights run by 50%. In addition, the study found that for each additional month the cameras were working and installed red light infractions fell an additional 9.3%. In Las Vegas, the addition of red light automated cameras could significantly impact the city’s and region’s pedestrian fatality problem. If you have been cited [...]
