The numbers are out from at least on Las Vegas DUI checkpoint that was in place for the Super Bowl. The numbers, as they usually do, tend to lend ever more credence to the arguments of those who say that these are not the most effective means to catch drunk drivers. Now, our goal here at is to help people who have been arrested for DUI in Las Vegas. But if they point is to prevent them, then there are statistically much better ways. Roving patrols, for instance, are shown to be “better’ at catching drunk drivers. Thanksgiving DUI in Las Vegas Ruins the Holiday

By | 2016-11-25T15:34:47-07:00 November 25th, 2016|Categories: DUI, Online Legal Services|Tags: , |

Thanksgiving is a day of celebration, for most people living in the United States of America, anyway. It is a day abounding with the Three Fs: food, family and football. While the roots of Thanksgiving may be somewhat less glowing and uniformly happy than most of us realize, that’s also how history works in a lot of ways. Regardless of what it was or wasn’t, it is now what it is: a feast and a long weekend of celebration. Of course for some they head straight from being thankful for what they have to throwing punches in the line to check out during Black Friday sales events, but that also is another story. However, there are also those of us who like to celebrate with a little alcohol as well as our food on Thanksgiving (most adults are probably in this category). Police have a tendency of setting up DUI checkpoints in Las Vegas for this very reason, since there are a number of Las Vegas vehicle accidents related to it. That almost always lends itself to at least a few people getting arrested for driving under the influence in Nevada on an otherwise celebratory evening. This is a truly [...]

Las Vegas DUI Checkpoint Announced for April 19

By | 2016-04-16T15:13:01-07:00 April 16th, 2016|Categories: DUI, Las Vegas Legal News|Tags: , , , |

The Traffic Bureau of the Las Vegas Metro Police Department recently announced that they will be conducting a DUI checkpoint in Las Vegas in the next few days. They were a little more coy than they sometimes are about the exact location, saying only that it would be in the Las Vegas Valley. They narrowed it down ever so slightly beyond that, saying it would be where there had been two fatal Las Vegas car crashes, as well a host of other traffic events. Per the news release on the Las Vegas DUI checkpoint: “The checkpoint will be conducted on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 between the hours of 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. The location selected for the checkpoint will be in the Las Vegas Valley on a major roadway that has had 87 events, drunk drivers and traffic accidents, and two fatal accidents in the last six months . . . This checkpoint is being supported by the EUDL, Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws, grant.” The Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws grant is one that is more frequently used to send secret “shoppers” into bars, restaurants, and stores that sell alcohol to attempt to make an underage purchase with a valid [...]

DUI Checkpoint Set Up in West Valley Las Vegas

By | 2015-08-21T10:40:11-07:00 August 21st, 2015|Categories: DUI, Las Vegas Legal News, Local News|Tags: , , |

Two nights ago, Wednesday, August 19th, Las Vegas police set up a DUI roadblock in West Valley. The West Valley DUI Checkpoint was at Lindell Rd. and W Tropicana Ave. The roadblock began at approximately 8:00 p.m. and ended early Thursday morning, August 20th, at 3:00 a.m. Funding for the Las Vegas driving while intoxicated roadblock likely came from a Joining Forces grant. The Joining Forces grant program is a joint state and federal grant program designed to reduce traffic deaths of drivers, passengers and even pedestrians by funding increased law enforcement efforts and even public awareness campaigns. For increased law enforcement efforts the Joining Forces grant pays for officer overtime and the use of consumables such as breathalyzer pipettes and even rubber gloves. The grant program’s public awareness campaigns can be seen on billboards, television and print advertisements. The widely seen Click it or Ticket television campaign is one of the Joining Forces public awareness campaigns. In the Silver State this year there has been a large number of deaths on our roadways. Those increased death have happened to pedestrians, motorcyclists, bicyclists, passengers and even drivers. Drunk driving fatalities in Nevada make up over 30% of the deaths on [...]
