Las Vegas DUI Checkpoint Announced for April 19

By | 2016-04-16T15:13:01+00:00 April 16th, 2016|Categories: DUI, Las Vegas Legal News|Tags: , , , |

The Traffic Bureau of the Las Vegas Metro Police Department recently announced that they will be conducting a DUI checkpoint in Las Vegas in the next few days. They were a little more coy than they sometimes are about the exact location, saying only that it would be in the Las Vegas Valley. They narrowed it down ever so slightly beyond that, saying it would be where there had been two fatal Las Vegas car crashes, as well a host of other traffic events. Per the news release on the Las Vegas DUI checkpoint: “The checkpoint will be conducted on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 between the hours of 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. The location selected for the checkpoint will be in the Las Vegas Valley on a major roadway that has had 87 events, drunk drivers and traffic accidents, and two fatal accidents in the last six months . . . This checkpoint is being supported by the EUDL, Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws, grant.” The Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws grant is one that is more frequently used to send secret “shoppers” into bars, restaurants, and stores that sell alcohol to attempt to make an underage purchase with a valid [...]

Texas Red Light Ticket Laws Differ From Las Vegas Red Light Ticket Citations

Texas lawmakers are considering statues for red light cameras in the Lone Star State. The bill limiting the use of red light cameras has passed the Texas senate but still needs to pass the lower house of the Texas legislature and be signed by the Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott. Many Texas cities have hired companies that then paid to install the cameras, which then right tickets to red light violators for $75 each. These tickets have generated millions of dollars for both the companies and the cities that have installed them. Texas lawmakers have cited research that shows that the red light cameras do not improve traffic safety. The alternative proposed by the legislature in Texas is that red light cameras would be confined to state and interstate roads that take tolls. Another complaint of Texas red light cameras is that they do not allow those accused of crimes to have their day in court and face those who accuse them. If you receive a red light camera ticket in Las Vegas, it is important to know that that Silver State’s laws governing the technology vary significantly from either current Texas law or rules currently proposed by Texas senators. Watch out for traffic tickets in Las Vegas stemming from a newly installed traffic signal. The traffic light is at the intersection of Cimarron Road and Alexander Road. If you’re not familiar with the area, that’s in the north western part of Las Vegas. Alexander Road is an east west street, a few blocks north of Cheyenne Avenue. Cimarron Road runs north south, and is located a little ways to the west of Interstate 95. This light going up is said to be starting as a flashing red light in order for people to become accustomed to stopping there. That means if you’re on autopilot and miss it, you’re looking at a red light violation in Las Vegas. As anyone who has been through one of those knows, they are expensive! They are expensive, that is, unless you use 24hourticketpower.com to fight Las Vegas traffic tickets online. Our system saves you time, saves you money, and saves your hassle. We wrote recently about a man who avoided a speeding ticket because he had a mild heart attack when the cop pulled him over. Today we have Las Vegas news of a red light violation that a woman avoided being ticketed before because she was apparently choking and in need of assistance, which was perhaps why she didn’t see the red light. It’s also possible, we suppose, that she saw the red light but either needed to get through it to try to get to the hospital, or perhaps even saw the police officer and was hoping to be pulled over so that someone trained in first response and CPR could assist her in her emergency. If you’re stopped for running a red light in Las Vegas and didn’t have an excuse to get you out of the ticket like this woman, but need to get out of your ticket and want to fight it online and easily, visit 24hourticketpower.com today to see how easy we make it, and how good and quick a resolution we can get for you. The incident in question happened in Michigan, in one of the places in the running for towns with the best [...]

Neighborhood Calls For More Las Vegas Speeding Tickets

Las Vegas has always been a car town. We aren’t like Boston or lower Manhattan, with small streets and sidewalks; our city wasn’t founded in the 1600s and had to adapt to cars traipsing around buildings and foundations that have stood for centuries. Instead, Las Vegas was founded in 1905 but was a much smaller town until the 1930s and 1940s. Since Vegas has grown up with cars as the main form of transportation, our city wasn’t designed for pedestrians and public transportation. This is why Las Vegas has always had trouble with safe streets and neighborhoods for pedestrians and families. The residents of the Las Vegas neighborhood near Alta Drive, Decatur Blvd and Hayes Place are calling for Las Vegas police to increase police presence, write more Las Vegas speeding tickets and even install more traffic safety measures. One of the residents of that area of Las Vegas, Edward Kalata, has been increasingly alarmed by the speed of drivers through the neighborhood. Mr. Kalata states that drivers often drive through the neighborhood to avoid traffic and speed lights on higher trafficked streets. Mr. Kalata is asking that police write more tickets for Southern Nevada speeding, install more speed limit [...]

Careful of Violations at New Red Light in Las Vegas

Perhaps the one constant in this world is change. By nature, you change as you grow older, you and every other living thing on this earth. As cities grow older or bigger or younger, grow up or grow out, or even shrink, even more will change on the periphery as well as in fundamental ways to reflect any shifts in populations, demographics, areas of higher use or lower use, and more. This can be a challenge in any number of ways. It can stress infrastructure, crowd streets, force municipal changes, cause more accidents or fewer, and even, possibly, result in you getting a traffic ticket in Las Vegas. Why? Two words: auto pilot. On a route you drive constantly, everyone starts to take it for granted. You know where the lights and the stop signs are by heart, you zone out as you navigate them effortlessly, and sometimes find yourself at your destination with no real memory of the drive. The problem is that, if a new traffic signal or sign gets put in, you run the risk of breaking the law if you’re not paying attention. If this happens to you, and you need to avoid traffic court in [...]

As Joseph Heller wrote in his famous novel Catch-22, “just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t after you.” And, just as we have written about several times before in articles regarding traps to catch you speeding in Las Vegas or give you a red light ticket in Henderson, so too it was true again this weekend with a checkpoint to catch people driving under the influence in Southern Nevada. Enforcement of the Nevada cell phone ban has begun in earnest. Las Vegas Metro Police officers have issued 230 citations in the last week for the new ban against talking or texting on a cell phone while driving. While the ban took effect on October 1, 2011, Nevada police only issued warnings until January 1st, when the Nevada ban on driving while using a cell phone took effect. If you have been ticketed for using your cell phone while driving in Las Vegas, speeding in Clark County or even a DUI anywhere in the South Valleys, contact us at 24hourticketpower.com today. Many in Las Vegas do not support the Nevada cell phone while driving ban. Bikers of Lesser Tolerance, a libertarian and 2nd amendment advocacy group set up a protest near an intersection Las Vegas Metro Police had set up a Cell Phone While Driving enforcement check point. Las Vegas police had set up the checkpoint because the intersection, Maryland Parkway and Flamingo Road, is one of the top-10 intersections for collisions in the south valleys. Las Vegas, NV Questions have arisen about the behavior of a number of constables from Las Vegas Township. Clark County Commissioners questioned the constables when a video surfaced showing them cursing, making traffic stops and referring to themselves as police. Additional reports have stated the Las Vegas Constable’s Office gave bounties of $100 when employees ticketed Las Vegas residents driving vehicles with out-of-state plates and non-current Nevada automobile registrations. Many Las Vegas constables pulled over drivers for Las Vegas speeding and other Clark County traffic infractions under probable cause for determining the out-of-state registration infractions While the constables have been asked to stop pulling over drivers and giving bounties for traffic infractions, it is unclear as to how many of these practices have stopped. If you have been ticketed for speeding in Las Vegas, reckless driving in the South Valleys or driving while on a cell phone in the South Valleys, and want to fight or fix your ticket, contact us at 24hourticketpower.com today. 24hourticketpower.com enables our clients to fight or fix most traffic infractions online, without court visits. With the coming of the New Year, Nevada’s new cell-phone law has come into effect and in our neighboring state of California, should you be pulled over without a driver’s license, the police are prohibited from impounding your automobile. These new laws show how traffic enforcement is changing across Nevada and the nation. If you have been ticketed in Las Vegas for speeding, in Clark County for a DUI or a South Valleys distracted driving. The new cellphone statute that became law on January first basically prevents Nevada drivers from speaking on a mobile phone without a headset. It increases penalties for texting while driving in Las Vegas. Should a Nevadan want to initiate a call with their mobile phone while driving he or she should have a the person’s phone number available for voice activated dialing. Recently Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chuck Allen recently spoke about the Nevada cell phone ban. NHP officers across Southern Las Vegas will start ticketing drivers using their cell phone while driving in Las Vegas in just over a week, when the Nevada cell phone bill comes into effect. Drivers are warned that a first offense will run nearly $100 with court costs and a second offense can run up to $150. A second offense of driving while on a cell phone in Las Vegas will result in 4 points on your license. We represent Nevada and out-of-state drivers with all Southern Nevada traffic infractions, including Las Vegas speeding, Henderson reckless driving or any Clark County distracted driving infraction. Trooper Allen explained a key point of the upcoming Nevada cell phone law. You can be ticketed for using your phone while at a stoplight or stop sign in Las Vegas. Many Nevadans who normally would never think of texting while their car is moving take the opportunity to use their phones while stopped. If you have received a Las Vegas careless driving citation and would like to fight or fix your ticket, please contact us today. While the Nevada cell-phone while [...]

The Nevada resort association has released visitor numbers for the Silver State’s largest tourist attractions have increased again this month. Visitors are coming to Clark County and the South Valleys for more and more conventions and vacations. Automobile traffic into Clark County and the Las Vegas region declined, however. While this has resulted in a reduction of out-of-state Las Vegas traffic citations for people in their own vehicles, it is assumed that Clark County DUI and other Las Vegas traffic infractions in rental cars have risen proportionally. Every day in Las Vegas, tourists receive infractions for speeding, for running red lights in Clark County or even a DUI on the strip. In 1961, Nevada was the first state to enter the Driver License Interstate Compact which enables it and 44 other states to penalize drivers for similar infractions while out of state. Thus, should you get a Las Vegas DUI; those penalties will apply to your California license. If you get a speeding ticket in Clark County, points will be applied to your Utah traffic record. Should you be convicted of reckless driving in Southern Nevada, you could be at risk of losing your license to drive from another state. [...]

As a result of a recent Las Vegas pedestrian fatality, the Clark County regional transit commission is reworking and re-evaluating multiple intersections across the South Valleys. The Las Vegas area transit agency is also planning to add additional bike lanes, bus lanes and install additional landscaping. In addition, the RTC is considering lowering speed limits across Las Vegas. These changes will likely result in significantly more Las Vegas speeding tickets, citations for red light running in Clark County and careless driving citations in the South Valleys. Clark County has consistently been ranked as extremely dangerous for pedestrians. As local municipalities like Henderson, Las Vegas and North Las Vegas work to improve pedestrian safety, more Nevada drivers will receive citations for numerous traffic infractions.
